Blog 17 hypertext revised

Fantasy Sports started off with pencil and paper. Fantasy followers had to keep track of their teams’ stats to record the number of points they would receive for that day. As technology came into the picture, more fantasy sports games were available online for the convenience of the fantasy sports fans. People were able to watch games at ease without the need of doing any work. They just had to go online and look at the results.

All fantasy sports are considered to be a type of game. It is a game where a fantasy owner builds a team, and they use the team to compete against other fantasy owners. Fantasy owners compete against each other based on statistics that are generated from individual players or even a team of a professional sport. There are different types of point systems for every fantasy sport. In fantasy sports there is the ability to trade, cut, and sign players just like real sports owners. Playing fantasy sports requires owners to keep up-to date with the real world sport. It is hard for people to win if they barely follow the real world sport. They can turn a really good team into a losing team just by not following the sport. Most fantasy players are people that are somewhat interested in the sport.

Fantasy Sports leagues started almost 40 years ago. Paper- based versions of fantasy football started in the 1960’s. Rotisserie Baseball started in the 1979. Both of these sports started off with a bunch of friends that were competing against each other for the title of “best knowledge of sports”. People that followed Rotisserie Baseball had to rush to the morning newspaper to see the box score of their games. Playing paper- based fantasy sports, players had to come together for the discussion of the rules and the initial draft. Players also had to communicate with the commissioner of the league at least once a week to discuss their starting line- ups. The scores and outcomes at the end of each week also had to be discussed and recorded. Some sports writers that participated would even call Major League offices to acquire injury updates on the players they owned in the fantasy league. Players that participated in these paper- based leagues had to show effort. They had to be serious about the game.

Fantasy Sports evolved as free web technology came into the picture. It made it more convenient for participants to play. The use of free web technology reduces the need of social organization. People were able to pre-rank their draft order making it possible for on-line drafts to occur. There is no more need for weekly meetings. Everything was available online. Scores and statistics were no longer necessary to record. It was already calculated and ready to be viewed. People are able to relax and enjoy the game. Most leagues are found online at ESPN.com and Yahoo.com. They can also be found on official league websites such as NBA.com, NFL.com and MLB.com.

Since fantasy games are available online, it makes fantasy owners able to participate in many leagues at ease. Fantasy owners can play in a league with people they have never spoken too or ever seen. People can now play with people in other countries. Fantasy owners are also able to communicate with one another on certain websites. Most websites have a messaging system built in so that players can trash talk, talk about trades, and discuss certain matchups. As fantasy sports continued to evolve, everything was available on the main page of your fantasy team. There would be a commissioner’s message, which is a message from the owner of the league. There are also the league’s top stories, such as injuries, trades, and suspensions, that happened in the real world sport. Some fantasy sports websites also have polls that participants are able fill out.

The Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA) was formed in 1998. It created a forum for the interaction of the hundreds of companies that were emerging in the growing Fantasy Sports Industry. There are many different types of fantasy games available to play online. There is fantasy auto racing, bass fishing, soccer, cricket, horse racing, hot- rodding, and many more. More sports started to join this fantasy arena because of the fan base of fantasy gaming. There are approximately 30 million people that participate in fantasy sports in the United States and in Canada. People participate in fantasy leagues for many reasons. Some leagues have a cash payoff and some people play for bragging rights.

Fantasy sports can only expand in the future. People are already able to check up on their fantasy stats through text messaging. There are also phone plans/ applications that allow people to update their rosters and make trades from their phones. There are already some television shows that are specifically made for fantasy sports players. The communication function on certain websites can be on all of the websites. They could also make it possible to have video chat. Fantasy sports will become more fitting for a wider range of people. I believe fantasy sports will become more popular as years go by.

Blog 19 Free post

It is almost time for the NBA Playoffs. I am an Orlando Magic fan. They are currently in third place in the eastern conference. They are fighting for the second place spot so they could have home court advantage.
My NBA fantasy leagues went all wrong this year. i blame it all on injuries and bad decision making on my part. i also blame it on my weird class schedule and my procrastination. this was my first season with all of my teams ended with losing records. it is embarrassing. i can't wait to rebound next season.

School this semester is pretty tough. i can't wait until this semester is finally over. I just want to sit down and not worry about any of my classes... that is until summer classes begin.

Blog 18 Style for Attending

1. On a daily basis I need my Yahoo and my music. yahoo is my homepage. i make sure to go on yahoo.com everyday to see the top stories. even though most of them are not important i feel the need to read some of the articles any way. i also have to check my facebook at least once day. i could go a week without both of these websites. i only go on these websites when i am near a computer. they are usually always the first places i visit before i have to do anything on the internet. i need my music daily. i can't go a day without hearing some sort of music. i wake up to a cd or radio. i listen to music while surfing the web. i believe these trends formed since i was 15.

From ages 5 - 10 i never had the internet, so it was always tv. i would always have to watch some tv while i did something. i did not like eating without tv. i was never really good at doing my hw while watching tv, but i always managed to turn off the tv when the commercials came.

2. i spend 6 - 8 hours a week on the computer. i spend 6-8 hours a week with the tv. i listen to music whenever i get a chance. i guess 1 and half hours a music per day. (including car rides) i don't play that much video games anymore maybe 2- 3 hours a week.

3. -i am able to do most of math hw with some music. i can't watch tv or be online. i am able to listen to music on a low volume while doing math hw
-i have to have silence when i am reading an assignment. i get easily distracted by the smallest sounds. i have to read my assignments at peace to get a good understanding of it.
-when writing a paper i need the internet for some sources and definitions. but the only other thing i have open is microsoft word. i cannot be listening to music or be surfing the web. i have pay attention to what i am writing. i stay away from the tv when i have something important to do.

4. - when i am driving i need music. i rarely drive home with no music on. i need music to stay focused on the road. with no music i think i would just fall asleep.
- i need tv when i am eating by myself. i think it makes the meal more enjoyable. i also feel more relaxed while watching tv while eating. if i don;t have tv, i feel like i am being rushed.
-when i am with family we need tv, we usually have quiet dinners.
