I did some research on wikipedia about fantasy basketball. It explains how fantasy basketball is what it is today. It also explains all the different settings and the different types of leagues. I think i will be able to add more information, but i feel that it will be a little hard to make it relate to what we learned in class.
Fantasy Basketball creates a new form of communication. People that are involved in Fantasy Basketball Leagues are able to communicate with one another using the internet. most fantasy leagues have a funtion where league owners can talk back and forth by just signing on. Yahoo Fantasy Sports has a feature called "smack talk". Being able to communicate while watching your fantasy league makes it seem like you are actually there watching the game with other people.
I am also thinking about writing about something else. On Yahoo Sports NBA, there is this Blog which i follow. I think that would be a better topic to talk about, but i will have to do some more research before i start that.
Safe place, no judgement.

When Dr. Chandler came around during class Monday, I was sitting next to you.... I think that you can post on how the communication is between followers of the fantasy football league. I'm not sure where you would find your information, but I think you might be able to post something about this topic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what does the NBA blog talk about? Maybe you can pull something out of there.
I think that this will apply to the class because it is communication through the internet to talk about these teams. I am not to educated on the fantasy teams like baseball, basketball and football? i dont even know if half of those i just mentioned have fantasy leagues haha but i think you could add information on maybe a manual how to start one or how to do it.. I see in the article i am looking at on wikipedia it does not have anything like that which could hel ppeople like me haha.so i hope this helps
ReplyDeleteYour topic sounds good. I went into the site on wikipedia and found fantasy basketball has to do with stats. What direction do you think you would go? And tell us more on how it connects with your topic. I saw some external websites on wikipedia and I will try to copy and paste them. Also give me some background on why you picked Fantasy Basketball. I tried to copy and paste but it would not let me. But if you go on the wikipedia website, under Fantasy Basketball, look at end in external links you will see both of them. Good luck. sue

I like this topic, too. On the surface, I can see how it would be difficult to relate, but what you really want to focus on is interactive online based communities. What kind of relationships develop between people in the fantasy leagues? Is it all Basketball all the time?
