Blog 9 Produsage

The article on produsage can relate to the articles we have read in class. Axel Bruns describes produsage as traditional modes of industrial production. The need to build , operate, and maintain the means of production of physical good and the need to distribute them. There has to be producers in order for there to be consumers.

1) The uses of the internet are for consumers. People visit the sites that are known and that are popular. People don't want to shop Online on a website that they never heard of. The internet is full of producers and consumers. The internet also involves distributors. Ebay is a good example of this system. the person trying to sell an item will go to the distributor, which is Ebay. then Ebay will make a listing for consumers. A consumer wants to "Consume" the item.

2)

3) Remediation - Producers have changed Technology. They have gone out and found the most conveinient ways to sell things. People are now able to buy things online, through the phone, through tv. People don't have to step out of as much as they used too. All they have to do is open the door and sign a paper when the item is delivered. Producers put things online so that they can be spread and known around the web. Everything on the web is there so it can be shown. the traditional ways of doing things have changed. There is online shopping, online banking, and online communicating. By typing up an email, a producer is sending out information for a consumer to consume.

4) Flashmobs= Produsage. A producer has to form a message/email to distribute. when it is distributed, all the consumers can now be called the distributors if they decide to pass the message on. Flashmobs plan everything out in precise details. They have to stay in touch with one another. Producers will distribute messages to consumers and they will also disribute the messages to other consumers.

5) Wikipedia- Wikipedia is an online collaborative encyclopedia. It is full of Producers, consumers and distributors. Producers write up information and distribute it online for all consumers to see. If a consumer disagrees or has more to he/she is able to produce his/her own information. This process is ongoing, until no more information is to be added.
